It is a much more involved process than I would like, and it is currently the only way to set up any multiplayer sessions. I would definitely like to see proper matchmaking in the future. If you have a gamepad, jumping into Forge should feel fairly natural. If you want to play with keyboard and mouse, I recommend you go into the settings to tweak the combat controls.
